​Spider Cage, (AEU), (UEU) in Paediatric Therapy 1.5 Day Fundamentals Course

Course Overview

This 1.5-day fundamentals course introduces therapists to the safe, effective, and confident use of the Spider Cage (Ability Exercise Unit – AEU / Universal Exercise Unit – UEU). The course focuses on essential knowledge, correct setup, foundational techniques, and practical applications for paediatric therapy.

Participants will learn the theoretical framework, basic configurations, safety considerations, and core treatment ideas needed to begin integrating the Spider Cage into everyday practice. The course emphasises hands-on learning, demonstrations, and guided practice rather than advanced or intensive techniques.

Target Audience: Physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals working with paediatric populations.
Prerequisites: OT, PT, and knowledge of paediatric physical therapy and neurological disorders.
Duration: 1.5 days (12 hours).

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the core components and basic functionality of the Spider Cage / AEU / UEU
    • Understand indications, contraindications, and clinical reasoning for use
    • Perform safe and effective setup and configuration for a range of basic exercises
    • Apply foundational techniques to support balance, strength, coordination, and functional skills
    • Use safety systems (belts, bungees, pulleys) with correct installation and risk-management principles
    • Begin simple treatment planning using the Spider Cage as part of therapy sessions
